Satisfactory Academic Progress

To be eligible for Financial Aid a student must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) throughout their period of enrollment. Please read the below guidelines regarding SAP/Academic Probation taken from the student handbook.

H. Academic Probation

Any student who, upon completion of their first semester of enrollment fails to attain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 for all work attempted will be placed on academic probation. A student on academic probation may not participate in Moot Court, Law Review, any legal fraternity or other student organization, or be a representative or officer in the Student Bar Association. A student on academic probation may not enroll in or continue in any clinical program. She/he is also expected to relinquish all other voluntary outside activities including, in the case of a full-time student, employment. A student on academic probation may be required to participate in Academic Success Program activities and meet with a mentor as a condition of academic probation. The Academic Success Program and/or the mentor may impose such additional conditions during the period of academic probation as s/he deems necessary. Failure to participate in Academic Success Program activities or meet with a mentor as required or to satisfactorily fulfill any of the conditions of academic probation shall be grounds for denying a petition for readmission under Section III (I) below.

I. Academic Review and Dismissal

The Registrar shall review the academic record of each student on Academic Probation at the end of her/his first year, i.e., at the conclusion of the second semester (or the credit hour equivalent thereof), and thereafter, at the conclusion of each semester of enrollment. If at the time of any of these reviews, a student's cumulative grade point average is below 2.00 for all law work attempted at that time, she/he will be academically dismissed from PhoenixLaw.

Academic dismissal from PhoenixLaw may have a financial aid impact on the student. Therefore, any student who is academically dismissed must schedule an appointment to consult with the Financial Aid office.
