Application Process

  1. Get a Federal Personal Identification Number (PIN), your PIN can be used each year to electronically apply for federal student aid and to access your U.S. Department of Education records online.
  2. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); don't forget to enter the school code for PhoenixLaw G41314.
  3. After you have paid your seat deposit to the Office of Admissions and submitted your FAFSA you will receive a packet from the Financial Aid Office.
  4. If you are chosen for verification (refer to your SAR) you will be sent a Verification Worksheet to complete and return to the Financial Aid office, we will also need a signed copy of your most recent tax return.
  5. Complete and return the PhoenixLaw financial aid application.
  6. You will also need to review, adjust if necessary and sign your award letter through the student portal.
  7. Once we receive and process the above items you can pick your stafford loan lender and electronically sign your promissory note on the lender page.
  8. After signing your award notice and your promissory note, first time borrowers need to complete entrance counseling.
  9. If borrowing a GradPLUS or private loan for additional funds, you will have to return to the lender page and apply online. Please visit the information pages on GradPLUS and private loans to determine the terms and limits of the loans.
  10. Once you have completed the above steps, the Financial Aid office will transmit your loan for guarantee and you will receive a Notice of Guarantee from the guarantee agency.
  11. When disbursed, your funds will be sent to the Finance Office, the funds will be applied to your tuition, fees and any other charges on your account, any overage will be issued to you approximately the second week of class. Questions concerning stipends should be directed to the Finance Office.
  12. Upon graduation, leaving school for any reason, or enrolling less than half time, federal regulations require you to complete exit counseling.
  13. You must reapply for Financial Aid every year.
