The Phoenix School of Law considers diversity to include issues of race, ethnicity, sex, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, veteran status, national origin, religion or other legally protected classification—and much more. Recognizing diversity as a means of embracing the experiences, perspectives and expertise of other cultures is important. PhoenixLaw is an institution that strives to create a learning atmosphere and an organizational culture that not only admits diverse students and hires diverse faculty and staff, but also welcomes their presence, participation, and unique experiences.
The Diversity Committee and Dean's Diversity Council
To address the particular needs of our growing and diverse student population, Phoenix School of Law has formed a Diversity Committee and a Dean’s Diversity Council. The creation of the Diversity Committee and Dean’s Diversity Council provides external and internal opportunities to identify and resolve challenges facing our diverse student body, staff, and faculty. The Diversity Committee and Dean’s Diversity Council seek to promote programs that influence and effect social change and to promote and advance the goal of diversity in the legal profession.
Diversity Committee consists of volunteer faculty, staff and student members who will meet monthly to address the needs of our diverse student population. The Diversity Committee will help to increase the number of diverse students on campus and will also serve as mentors to current students.
The Dean’s Diversity Council consists of community leaders that will offer guidance and suggestions on increasing diversity at the PhoenixLaw. The Council will be presented with an annual report detailing PhoenixLaw’s efforts towards increasing diversity at the School.
Both the Committee and the Council will participate in active collaboration and transparent communication with a common goal of seeking opportunities and insight on diversifying the legal profession.
